Dinner for Six Posted on June 24th
A dinner for six, served in our temporary and portable dining space on the shores of Georgian Bay, near Wiarton, Ontario, was an exploration of dynamism and change during a meal. The light weight and relative rigidity of the concrete formwork tubes proved to be proficient structurally and in terms of portability, as their hollowness allowed us to carry material within them to the site. This versatility is prevalent throughout the design of the pavilion- a screen of plates and dishes dematerializes until the screen is open to the night sky, awnings are retractable, and the cooking element (which can transform to cook a variety of courses, and even house a bonfire) and plates slide from one end of another, reinforcing a sense of community.
